Jyotirmayee Samanta hails from Barbil, a town in Keonjhar district, Odisha. Raised in a middle-class family of five, Jyotirmayee faced the profound loss of her mother at a tender age. Her mother’s aspiration was to see Jyotirmayee become a successful and independent woman. Motivated by her late mother’s dreams, Jyotirmayee’s father encouraged her to pursue a career in engineering and technology.
After completing her schooling, Jyotirmayee enrolled in an electrician trade course at Government ITI Barbil, a decision inspired by her father’s belief in its potential to unlock better job prospects. During her training, she was introduced to a specialized program offered by TeamLease Foundation in partnership with SANDVIK, focusing on crushing and screening technology.
This training proved to be a turning point. Jyotirmayee gained valuable insights into core technical aspects of mining technology and basic engineering principles. The program significantly bolstered her confidence and equipped her with the skills needed to tackle future challenges head-on. Jyotirmayee is deeply grateful to the faculty at ITI Barbil, and the organizing teams from TeamLease and SANDVIK for providing such a transformative opportunity. With renewed confidence and enhanced skills, Jyotirmayee is now well-prepared to realize her mother’s dream and forge a successful path ahead.
